Dear Rita,
You were correct in your observation and I have corrected the error. You will find Duke correctly listed in the 20 Largest B.S. Biomedical Engineering Classes of 2007 in different post in this blog.

I'm sorry, this list is blatantly wrong. I go to Duke and we definitely graduated more than.. 3 people.. in 2007. haha.

Ray,

The term Biomedical Engineer as I have defined it above is used to describe someone who has graduated from a Biomedical Engineering program. There are no specific duties and responsibilities. As a group they are typically committed to creating medical products and/ or performing engineering research that will lead to better patient care. They are typically prepared to apply their engineering skills in the medical device industry which makes products such as syringes, dialysis devices, surgical tools, catheters, CT scanners, MRI scanners, diagnostic instruments, etc. They are increasingly prepared to apply their engineering skills in the pharmaceutical industry making drugs, creating processes, optimizing tissue growth technologies, designing batch or continuous flow bioreactors, mathematical modelling of biological systems, etc. Those which decide to continue their education into graduate school typically perform engineering research in current medical technology areas or create new technologies by applying scientific breakthroughs.
